On November 3, 2009, voters in the Village of Johnson City rejected (2,256 to 2,216) dissolving the Village and consolidating with the Town of Union. Residents petitioned the Village Board for the referendum, and under New York law a dissolution study was required. This website describes the study and key steps leading up to the vote.
