About the study

• The Process

   

  The Village of Watkins Glen has initiated a police department restructuring study to proactively assess the potential of restructuring the Village of Watkins Glen Police Department including the possibility of consolidating with the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department. The process will take approximately six months and will only evaluate the police service. The study will generate operational, governance and fiscal impacts related to the police department that will provide detailed information for the community to make an informed decision about the future of the Village Police Department.

• The Study Committee

   

  The process is being overseen by a study committee of Village and County Officials, with assistance from the Center for Governmental Research (CGR), a nonprofit management consulting organization with expertise in government management, public finance and municipal consolidation processes.
